Key Travel Information
- Entry restrictions: Check current entry requirements with the nearest Ukrainian embassy.
- Visa: Visa-free entry for up to 180 days within 365 days.
- Travel insurance: Travel medical insurance issued by a Ukrainian-registered insurer or a foreign company with a representative in Ukraine is recommended.
- Entry conditions:
- Valid passport with at least 6 months remaining validity.
- Visa, if required for your nationality. EU, US, UK, and many other citizens enjoy visa-free entry.
- Travel medical insurance covering emergency treatment for the duration of stay.
Entry Rules for Ukraine 2025–2026
Current entry requirements apply to foreign nationals traveling to Ukraine. Check with your embassy for the latest updates.
Foreign nationals entering Ukraine should meet the following requirements:
- Valid passport: The passport should have at least 6 months remaining validity. Citizens of certain countries need a visa, so check requirements for your nationality before departure.
- Travel medical insurance: The policy should be issued by a Ukrainian-registered insurer or a foreign company with a representative in Ukraine. It must cover emergency medical expenses and be valid for the entire period of stay in Ukraine.
- Insurance coverage: Health insurance should cover medical emergencies, war risks, and evacuation. Coverage for emergency treatment, hospitalization, and evacuation is recommended.
Transit Passengers
The same rules apply to transit passengers.
If a passenger travels by transfer through Boryspil airport, stays in the transfer zone, and does not cross the state border of Ukraine, the above-mentioned demands are not applied. Transfer passengers need to follow the entry rules and requirements of their final destination country.
Travelers without valid travel insurance may face difficulties at the border. Carry your insurance certificate and all required documents when crossing the state border of Ukraine.
Exceptions
The above-mentioned demands are not applied to:
- Foreigners and stateless persons permanently residing in Ukraine, including those who have a residence permit in Ukraine.
- Persons recognized as refugees or in need of additional protection.
- Employees of diplomatic missions and consular offices of foreign states.
- Representatives of official international missions and organizations accredited in Ukraine, and their family members.
- Persons who are drivers and/or crew members of freight vehicles or buses engaged in regular transportation.
- Crew members of aircraft, ships, and river vessels.
- Members of train and locomotive crews.
- Military personnel or units of the Armed Forces of NATO member states and member states of the NATO Partnership for Peace participating in training activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Important Notes
- Foreign nationals entering Ukraine should carry a valid passport with at least 6 months remaining validity and check visa requirements for their nationality.
- Travel medical insurance should be valid for the entire period of stay.
- Entry rules are subject to martial law provisions and may change.
- Check with the State Border Guard Service or the nearest Ukrainian embassy before travel.
- Insurance should meet official requirements and cover war risks and medical emergencies so it can be accepted at Ukrainian border checkpoints.
